Mission: Impossible is often compared to the Fast & Furious series, but Mission: Impossible 8's promotion draws the most problematic comparison yet.

The Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part I cast and crew is already hyping up Mission: Impossible 8, but that doesn't help the series' many Fast & Furious comparisons. The seventh Mission: Impossible movie is going to be bigger than any Mission: Impossible film that came before it. Many reports about Tom Cruise's deathly stunts have described him riding off cliffs on motorbikes, and the first cut of the movie is 3.5 hours long.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Even though Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part I isn't even out yet, director Christopher McQuarrie is teasing and promoting Mission: Impossible 8 with behind-the-scenes footage and character teases. And editor Eddie Hamilton excitedly explained that the Mission: Impossible 8 stunts will be "historic.

Mission: Impossible 8’s Promotion Highlights The Fast & Furious Comparisons In the past year, the cast and crew of the franchise have talked about the eighth movie almost as much as the seventh movie, if not more so. McQuarrie and company have revealed behind-the-scene images of a character played by Nick Offerman, the return of a character from the very first Mission: Impossible movie, and a mystery returning character from Mission: Impossible - Fallout.

Both McQuarrie and Fast X director Louis Leterrier have spoken endlessly about how great the follow-up movies are instead of focusing on the current films. While hyping up these movies is almost unavoidable, as they supposedly end the franchises and are the second parts to two-part movies, they're being promoted as if Mission: Impossible - Death Reckoning Part I and Fast X don't matter.

How Similar Mission: Impossible And Fast & Furious Really Are While Mission: Impossible and Fast & Furious are both-high octane action series about groups of expert spies, the Fast & Furious movies embrace CGI and out-of-this-world, cartoonish action. Most action sequences in the Mission: Impossible series might be visually enhanced by digital effects, but everything is on location with practical set pieces, and Cruise performs real-life stunts.
