Rosario hit .281/.360/.455 with 12 homers and 61 RBIs in 114 games last year at Double-A San Antonio. He also represented the Padres in the Arizona Fall League and was 4-for-18 with a steal in 18 plate appearances in Cactus League games this spring. Catcher Webster Rivas also collected four hits and drove in three runs, while first baseman Aderlin Rodriguez drove in three runs on two hits, including a home run.Right fielder Trayce Thompson also homered, walked three times, scored twice, drove in two runs and stole a base.
Right-hander Jesse Scholtens struck out five and allowed just two hits and a walk over five shutout innings to earn the win. Right-hander Grant Gavin struck out five over two innings of one-run ball and right-hander Jordan Brink struck out four over two shutout innings.
