Several members of the community including friends, families and those who served with some of the fallen came to the Santa Rosa County Veteran’s Memorial Plaza to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in a place that’s filled with the names of fallen heroes. The ceremony was emotional for many in the crowd including Greg and Kathy Barnes who lost their son Warrant Officer 1 Jeffrey Barnes in March of 2023 when he and eight others were killed when two black hawk helicopters crashed into each other in Kentucky during a nighttime training exercise.
