Boosting salaries
Child care workers are required to have a high school diploma, but even with the relatively high salaries, recruitment is still a challenge, Wilson said, adding that “it’s difficult to convince someone to come to child care — child care is taxing and it’s difficult.” Melanee Mooneyham used to work at a child care center off-base in Alaska.
