Coach Mike Tomlin says there's 'no need' to name Justin Fields as the team's starting quarterback despite Pittsburgh's 3-0 start to the season with him in the starting role.
Pat McAfee and Tone Digs are elated for the Pittsburgh Steelers having potentially found their quarterback in Justin Fields. "Because there's no need," Tomlin said when asked why he won't name Fields the permanent starting quarterback."I explained to you the variables of the week. It has not changed. He's going to walk in this building with that mindset tomorrow, and so really, there's no need to.
"We'll know when we get there," Tomlin said."He'll not only be healthy in terms of keeping himself safe, but he'll be healthy in terms of being able to be productive and do the things that he needs to do and we need him to do." "As we walk in the building tomorrow, I want Justin singularly focused on starting for us and doing what's required to be ready to do that," Tomlin said."... We'll see where the week leads us. If availability or the quality of his practice participation picks up, maybe we'll consider that later in the week. If it doesn't, then it won't be a consideration, and we'll just continue with where we are right now.
