A "cybersecurity issue" led to the shutdown of some casino and hotel computer systems at MGM Resorts International properties across the U.S., a company official reported Monday.
A message on its website reads: "The Borgata website is currently unavailable. For immediate assistance, please call 609.317.1000."The nature of the issue was not described, but the statement said efforts to protect data included "shutting down certain systems." MGM Resorts said the investigation was continuing.
"MGM Resorts recently identified a cybersecurity issue affecting some of the Company's systems. Promptly after detecting the issue, we quickly began an investigation with assistance from leading external cybersecurity experts. We also notified law enforcement and took prompt action to protect our systems and data, including shutting down certain systems. Our investigation is ongoing, and we are working diligently to determine the nature and scope of the matter.
