In the pet gear market, a new sub-category has emerged: streetwear clothes
ACCORDING TO the American Pet Products Association, we spent over $72.5 billion on supplies for our furry friends in 2018.
While much of that bought the sort of utilitarian gear you can find at Petco, high-end pet clothing has been a thriving market since at least the early aughts, when Paris Hilton paraded her chihuahua/prop Tinkerbell around in designer outfits. Today, that market has given rise to an attention-getting micro-genre: canine streetwear. Hoodies that accommodate pointy ears, sneaker-shaped chew toys and even designer turtlenecks echo the styles found in human hypebeasts’ closets.
