After nearly three decades away, a sociable little critter is returning to the party at the San Antonio Zoo.in Disney's original"The Lion King," will be the guest of honor and main attraction at a bash the zoo is throwing Saturday.
The zoo's newest family consists of five meerkats, a social group commonly referred to as a “mob.” In proper mob fashion, one meerkat will keep watch on its hind legs as the rest of the group forages for food.to eating insects like grubs and termites. Often characterized by their dark eye patches and pointy snout, these playful animals originally hail from southern Africa's dry grasslands and savannahs. However, visitors can expect to see a meerkat family up close at the zoo’s new meerkat exhibit in Kronkosky's Tiny Tot NatureThe zoo said it is hosting a Pop-Up Meerkat Mob Party from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
