Los Medias Blancas de Chicago ascendieron el jueves a Chris Getz al puesto de gerente general, con lo que el expelotero se mantendrá en la organización, casi dos décadas después de que este club ganó por última bez una serie de playoffs.
Getz reemplaza a Rick Hahn, destituido por el presidente de la junta Jerry Reinsdorf, quien echó también al jefe de operaciones deportivas Ken Williams el 22 de agosto.
Getz, quien cumplió 40 años el miércoles, fue contratado por Chicago en octubre de 2016 como director de desarrollo de jugadores. Se le ascendió a subgerente general en enero de 2021. El jueves, fue ascendido además a vicepresidente senior. Su ascenso constituiría una señal positiva para el manager cubano Pedro Grifol, quien está en su primer año al frente del equipo. Getz jugó para Kansas City de 2010 a 2013 y trabajó también para los Reales luego de su carrera como pelotero.
