The Texas Army National Guard soldier is a former Marine who just returned from serving in Egypt. He surprised most of his family at the Polka Festival in Ennis.

ENNIS, Texas — The family of a Texas Army National Guard soldier who has been serving away from home for nearly three years got quite the surprise on Sunday when Staff Sgt. Brian Holland showed up out of nowhere to hug them around their necks.

Holland's family was celebrating the National Polka Festival in Ennis, where his extended family and family farm are located. Holland's wife took a video of the reunion. She secretly picked up her husband from the airport and brought him to the KJT hall in Ennis, where his family was enjoying Czechoslovakian food and music.

Holland, a former Marine, has been deployed to Egypt since August 2023. Before that, he served on the Texas border in Eagle Pass from November 2021 to July 2023. In the video, Holland walks up to a table and surprises his teenage daughter, who cannot believe her eyes. The two embrace and later dance as Holland catches up with the rest of his family.
