Streaming now | Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther is holding a press conference to address city plans for summer safety.

The mayor also said the pricetag for Operation Moonlight will be $2 million, up from the $1.6 million that was spent on it last year.

Assistant Police Chief LaShanna Potts also spoke at Thursday's event. She said several times that the police leaders will monitor data to make decisions on which parts might require extra policing."This is about working with our community partners," Potts said, adding that growing relationships between officers and community members is crucial.

Columbus is one of many U.S. cities seeing an increase in youth violence. Near the end of Thursday's news conference, Ginther referenced recent shootings involving teens, including several that happened well past midnight."Parents, we need you," he said. "Parents have to be part of the solution as well. We need parents to step up and do their jobs."
