When I meet Margot Robbie on a warm Tuesday afternoon in Los Angeles, the first thing we need to do is clear the air: We both have the same name. “I’m so jealous, I have always wanted your spelling,” Robbie tells me. I reply that I’ve always wanted long legs, so it feels like we can call it even. Robbie’s last few years have been dizzying: Two summers ago, Barbie-mania swept the universe, which Robbie both starred in and produced through her company LuckyChap Entertainment.
And because Nicole is Australian, it gave me that first little glimmer of like, Oh, maybe these dreams are within reach. Someone else from my country did it.
