The Rangers have showed up strong in MLB’s All-Star voting update released Monday. Five position players, led by second baseman Marcus Semien, were among the...

Semien, with 707,712 votes, has a commanding lead at second base over Houston’s Jose Altuve. Semien has the fourth-highest vote total among all AL players behind, New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge and Toronto first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. The overall leading vote-getter in the initial phase will earn an automatic start at his position. Ohtani leads all vote-getters with 924,000 votes, an 80,000-vote lead over Judge.

Perhaps most surprising is how close Jung is in the third base race behind Tampa Bay’s Matt Chapman. Chapman had 475,322 votes; Jung was only 4,500 votes off the pace and had more than 200,000 votes more than his closest competitor, Boston’s Rafael Devers. At catcher and short, Heim and Seager have significant deficits to overcome behind Baltimore’s Adley Rutschman and Toronto’s Bo Bichette . At 300,000 votes, García is about 230,000 votes behind Houston’s Yordan Alvarez, currently running as the third outfield starter. Both Alvarez and Judge are currently on the IL.

While DH Robbie Grossman is third at his position, he trails second-pace Brandon Belt by 75,000 votes. Nathaniel Lowe, fourth among first baseman, is 240,000 behind second-place Yandy Diaz of Tampa Bay. The other Rangers players on the ballot are outfielders Ezequiel Duran and Leody Taveras . They are 95,000 and 135,000, respectively, behind García.
