San Antonio celebrates International Women’s Day with a special naturalization ceremony and a march.
The city of San Antonio marked International Women’s Day with a special naturalization ceremony. About four dozen women from nearly two dozen countries took their oath of citizenship during a ceremony presided over by U.S. Magistrate Judge Elizabeth “Betsy” Chestney on March 8, which is International Women’s Day. The city teamed up with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas to hold the ceremony in City Council Chambers.
The 34th International Women’s Day March is set for Sunday at Milam Park What is International Women’s Day? It’s a day to recognize women’s accomplishments on a global level while also highlighting challenges facing them, such as gender equality , reproductive rights, and abuse and violence against women. In some countries, it’s a national holiday. It was officially recognized by the United Nations in 1977.
Wage gap persists as Texans celebrate Women’s History Month If you add part-time and seasonal Texas workers, the comparable amount that women make is 71 centers to a dollar for men, according to the group. If you look at wages for Black, Hispanic and Native women as compared with white, non-Hispanic men, the gap grows, ranging from 69 cents to as low as 57 cents on a national level, according to the law center.
