While the US can experience devastating storms, it is not the country with the most hurricanes, according to new data.
When the hurricane season began on June 1, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released its predictions for what this year's season would look like, predicting there would be 17 to 25 named storms.This would make it an above-average hurricane season, and of those storms, it was forecast that eight to 13 would be hurricanes, and four to seven deemed major hurricanes.
'The most 'impressive' on the list is perhaps Taiwan, he said, because it is so small.He explained the ranking was to be expected firstly because the U.S., excluding Hawaii, is not in the tropics where most tropical cyclones exist, and secondly while the Atlantic 'seems very active right now, it is not always very active, and a lot of storms that form in the basin miss the U.S.
