This study suggests that around 10% of people diagnosed with dementia may instead have underlying silent liver disease with HE causing or contributing to the symptoms – an important diagnosis to make as HE is treatable.It is the first study of its kind to analyse routinely collected health data in this way. However, we should treat these results with some caution.
