A man is in jail after a reported carjacking and wild cross-border chase from Canada to Skagit County Thursday.
Officers and troopers said the chase began with a reported carjacking with a machete in British Columbia.
The pickup continued through the port of entry and hit another vehicle, according to CPB. Washington State Patrol Trooper Kelsey Harding said the fleeing driver, who was suspected in a carjacking with a machete in B.C., nearly hit a CBP officer at the border crossing. The driver then made a U-turn, exited the lot, drove across a grass median, and eventually headed south on Interstate 5 toward Bellingham.
