Police were investigating early Friday after a man was shot outside a nightclub near the Third Ward.
Officers around 2:30 a.m. responded to a report of a shooting in the 2300 block of Blodgett Street and arrived to find a man who had been shot in the body and arm, Lt. Ronnie Willkens, of the Houston Police Department, told On Scene reporters. An off-duty deputy working a second job at the club helped the man until officers arrived.First responders took the man to the hospital, Willkens said. It wasn’t immediately clear how serious the man’s injuries were.
Witnesses told detectives the man had been at the club with family members and briefly left to go to his car around the block, Willkens said. Witnesses heard gunshots and then saw the man running back toward them with bullet wounds. Detectives found bullet casings in the area, Willkens said. Investigators didn’t immediately have a motive for the shooting.
