The three people hospitalized after the fireworks exploded and caused a fire, police said.
Police officers were dispatched to a residential address on Birch Parkway in the Lake Mohawk section ofaround 10 p.m. Monday for reports of a fireworks explosion with injuries, said Lt. Daniel DeWald.
Upon arrival, they saw a homemade barge on fire, from where people were igniting the commercial grade fireworks, DeWald said. The fireworks apparently exploded and subsequently lit the barge on fire, he said.
