OAKLAND — In the city’s first homicide in eight weeks, a man was fatally shot Wednesday afternoon in East Oakland, authorities said.The shooting happened about 2:35 p.m. Wednesday in the area of 71st Avenue and Hamilton Street, a mostly residential area.
A motive for the shooting was under investigation. No arrests were announced and no suspect information was released.Last year at this time police had investigated 113 homicides in the city.
