A man died on San Antonio’s Southwest Side Saturday night after driving his car off the road, police said.SAN ANTONIO — A man died on San Antonio’s Southwest Side Saturday night after driving his car off the road, police said.

The 37-year-old was driving erratically close to 6300 Medina Base Rd., near Lackland Air Force Base. He did not stay in a single lane and didn’t control his speed, according to police. As he passed through the intersection at Palm Valley Drive, the man accelerated and veered to the right and off the street. He crashed into a metal signal controller cabinet around 6 p.m. Saturday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have identified the man and notified his family. Police did not say what might have caused the man to run off the road.
