Gahanna police said officers were called to the area of a Subway restaurant at 321 Stoneridge Lane at 1:20 p.m. on a report of a shooting and found a man on the floor suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers arrived a short time late and pronounced that person dead at 1:41 p.m. A deputy chief said the suspect was not wearing any clothes and was sitting outside on the curb with his hands in the air as police arrived.
Within a few hours, detectives filed an aggravated murder charge against William Marshall, 30, of Westerville. The deputy chief said it did not appear that Wiliam and the victim knew each other, and the victim was a customer. Charging documents said witnesses told investigators the man, "with prior calculation and design," shot the victim in the head with a semi-automatic pistol as the victim stood in line to order food.
