The suspect is being held in King County jail on investigation of homicide.
Seattle police at the closed Capitol Hill Sound Transit Link light rail station in Seattle after a fatal stabbing. A King County judge found probable cause for murder in the second degree and tampering with a witness in the deadly stabbing of a Capitol Hill Chef .
He waived his right to appear in court Tuesday. His attorney told the judge that for probable cause for murder in the second degree, he believed there was a 'viable lawful use of force' for defense for the suspect. He added he thought it prudent to bring it up now, even though the hearing was meant to determine probable cause and set bail.
"The facts establish the defendant stabbed the victim repeatedly on a busy train platform in front of dozens of witnesses. After stabbing the victim, he ran from the scene and threatened the one person at the scene who could identify him, threatened to kill him if that individual spoke with police, Brookhyser said.
During the first appearance hearing, the judge asked if the victim's family was available virtually or in the courtroom and if they wanted to address the court regarding bail. They did. They could be heard but not seen. They attended the hearing virtually."We just got married just a few months ago, and I just want to say would appreciate this bail being as high as possible so this man does not get away. I would like some justice," said Bellet.
"To have somebody like Corey in this community ripped out of our hearts in a flash is devastating," Di Lello Morton said.
