Authorities recover a Houston Fire Department ambulance that was stolen from the East End on Feb. 6, 2023. A man was arrested and the ambulance was recovered at Rice and Greenbriar near Rice University.out of a Houston fire station Monday and drove it around the city for more than an hour has been charged with two felonies, Houston police said Tuesday.

Houston police said Lopez approached a firefighter outside Fire Station No. 17, at 2805 Navigation, and then went inside the station’s vehicle bay, boarded a reserve ambulance and drove away. The ambulance was missing for more than an hour before a Houston police helicopter spotted it near the West Loop at Richmond. The man was heard on emergency radio talking about people who were trying to hurt him, police said.
