A wildfire continues to spread in the Lake Elsinore area, forcing nearby residents to evacuate.The "Macy Fire," which was first reported just before 6 p.m. Thursday, July 25, in vegetation near Macy Street and Orange Street, has burned approximately 134 acres. The fire is currently 15% contained, according to Cal Fire.Evacuations have been ordered for dozens of homes south of Grand Avenue, south of Orange Street, and west of Ortega Highway.
Below is a map of the areas impacted by the ongoing evacuation orders:Ground crews have been working to contain the blaze and address hotspots since Thursday night. Highway 74, which provides access to the area where the fire is burning, remained closed Friday morning.One structure has been destroyed, although officials have not confirmed whether it was a home. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
