San Diego State targets coach with more than three decades of experience, most of it as running backs coach in the Pac-12 with Cal and Stanford
San Diego State appears poised to hire former Stanford running backs coach Ron Gould for the same position on the Aztecs’ staff, according to multiple sources.
His time with the Aggies was sandwiched between a pair of Pac-12 assignments — 16 years at Cal and six years at Stanford. Gould coached running backs throughout his time at both Stanford and Cal, where he also was associate head coach for five seasons.Stanford coach David Shaw resigned following the 2022 season, and Gould did not remain on the staff of new Cardinal head coach Troy Taylor.
