The owners of both Salad Nation and Squared Up Pizza grew up in Tucson, frequenting the exact mall in which they now operate their businesses--but now these local spots are struggling in Park Place. BrookeChauKGUN tells their story
TUCSON, Ariz. — Local restaurants are struggling to compete with big chain restaurants at Park Place Mall.
“I was behind on rent and paying my employees, paying my purveyors, getting everything else to where I can continue to operate and at the end of the day there was no money for rent," said Patrick McColley, Owner of Squared Up Pizza. Things were looking up for the pizza shop who had Barstool’s Dave Portnoy come rate its pizza late last year.
