A record number of guns were found at Harrisburg International Airport this year, federal authorities said.
A loaded .38-caliber revolver was found in a carry-on bag Wed., Dec. 7, 2022, at Harrisburg International Airport. A loaded handgun brought into Harrisburg International Airport on Wednesday is the ninth recovered so far this year, federal officials said.
TSA officials have recovered a record number of guns at Harrisburg’s airport this year, the agency said. Two guns were recovered last year, and four in 2020, according to TSA data. “Our officers are good at their jobs and are focused on their mission,” Karen Keys-Turner, Harrisburg airport’s federal security director, said in a statement. “If you own a firearm, it is your responsibility to know where it is at all times and know that it cannot go through an airport security checkpoint. This individual now faces a stiff financial civil penalty.”
