And hopefully it stays that way.
Paul Fireman has a lot going for him. Besides having a kick-ass name, he’s a billionaire. Dude owns a private golf club right next to the crown jewel of tri-state outdoor recreation, Liberty State Park.
Fireman has big plans for Liberty State Park. He launched an advocacy group called The People’s Park Foundation to champion his vision for the public space. That vision includes oodles of private development like stadiums, community centers, athletic fields and such, oh and coincidentally, he’d like to grab about 21 acres of bird sanctuary on Caven Point to add three holes to the aforementioned golf course.

The plan has been well received with the governor giving an enthusiastic thumbs up and even members of the PPF calling the proposal impressive. Billionaires aren’t used to hearing the word “no” so I wouldn’t expect Fireman to give up on his personal vision for public land.
