New math, schooling, fentanyl and the Dallas mayor's party switch are on readers' minds in Letters to the Editor.
Readers criticized and complimented math program; urged investing in public education and service; blamed the relentless demand for drugs; and lauded Eric Johnson for switching parties.I read with interest this article about the newly adopted Eureka math curriculum. I am a 30-year veteran Dallas ISD teacher and am also frustrated by Eureka. This is my first year teaching the program. Eureka advocates are quick to say that this curriculum is fantastic and really helps students with math.
Re: “Mission-critical jobs,” by Ken Kelley, and “Public schools draining, too,” by William L. Scholls, Saturday Letters. If we cannot find FDR, perhaps we can find leaders willing to enact paths to collective wisdom, born of renewed love of country and one another.The headline on this story smacked of a trick question, as the answer is so obvious. Without demand for a product, whether it be fentanyl or smartphones, there is no incentive for supplying the item.
