President Donald Trump's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is facing multiple lawsuits alleging violations of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA). Critics argue that DOGE, led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, lacks transparency and fair representation, raising concerns about potential conflicts of interest and corruption.

FILE - President-elect Donald Trump listens to Elon Musk as he arrives to watch SpaceX's mega rocket Starship lift off for a test flight from Starbase in Boca Chica, Texas, Nov. 19, 2024.

While President Donald Trump's inauguration ceremonies were still taking place, one of his most ambitious plans, the Department of Government Efficiency , has been hit with a slew of lawsuits. Three separate suits - the first from the American Public Health Association, American Federation of Teachers, Minority Veterans of America, VoteVets Action Fund, the Center for Auto Safety, Inc., and Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington; the second from public interest law firm National Security Counselors, and third from consumer watchdog group Public Citizen with State Democracy Defferenders Fun and the American Federation of Government Employees.

President Trump has tapped Tesla CEO Elon Musk and biotech founder Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the program, who pledged to cut $2 trillion in government spending through the agency. "DOGE presents the risk of financial conflicts, self-dealing, and corruption because Mr. Musk and Mr. Ramaswamy are corporate investors whose financial interests could be implicated by changes to the federal government’s regulatory or fiscal policy made as a result of the recommendations that they will furnish the administration," court documents filed by Public Citizen said.
