The fence was placed in 2015 after many people died by suicide.
A Lancaster County teen died by suicide near the Prince Street Garage in the city. This marks the first death since safety barriers were put up to prevent suicide attempts. The director says any death is awful and he's in the process of adding new safety measures to make sure this doesn't happen again.'Our thoughts and prayers are with the individual who decided to end their life this way.
The signs of hope include the national suicide hotline. Reminding those suffering in silence. That someone cares about them and to reach out.“I’ve actually had clients that have dialed that number and have said it was very helpful for them. So, you know, big part about this is suicide while it's often planned. It can come on fast, it can come on strong. And it's important to have somewhere where you can call,” therapist at Retreat Behavioral Health, Mark Sigmund, said.
