Lammy backs report which finds over half of judges seen to act is a racially biased way by LeahMahon_
A REPORT into exploring racial discrimination in the justice system has been backed by MP David Lammy in an effort to stamp out unfair treatment targeted towards black people in the criminal justice system. and compiled research from academic experts at the University of Manchester across England and Wales.
The report comes five years after the Shadow Foreign Secretary was commissioned to lead the landmark research under the then-Prime Minister David Cameron into racism engulfing the UK judicial system. Mr Lammy said he welcomed the newest report and hoped it would propel a “culture shift” in the system.
“Action to embed compulsory antiracist and racial bias training for all judicial office holders, which is a key recommendation of the report, would encourage a culture shift towards antiracist practice.”
