Houston business owner nearly missed a chance of a lifetime when her Southwest Airlines flight was canceled during the airline's all-out meltdown over the holidays.

small business owner launched LAMIK more than 15 years ago and one of her greatest gifts ever? She was scheduled to make her Home Shopping Network debut three days after Christmas. "Being a small business owner isn’t easy and a national stage like this, in front of millions of people who I don't even have access to, this was a once in-a-lifetime opportunity.

She arrived to secure the rental and the line was out the door. "But I was able to get a car, and then we hit the road and this is my family. I have a 7-year-old daughter," she explained. Roxie started documenting the 17-hour drive with her husband and daughter on social media and Houstonians showed up in droves to cheer her on, hoping she would make it in time.

Founder and chief flight expert of Scott’s Cheap Flights, Scott Keyes, said while the weather may have sparked initial delays, the issues now are being caused by internal errors.Southwest has given her a refund, but the airline created a webpage and added a ‘travel disruption’ section on its website because Southwest is still issuing refunds and says it will reimburse passengers for rental cars, food, hotels, and other expenses.
