Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays Spider-Man villain Kraven the Hunter, and he went through quite the training process and weight gain to become Kraven.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Kraven the Hunter's leading man, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, reveals the intense training and weight gain he underwent to embody the Spider-Man villain. Taylor-Johnson is no stranger when it comes to superhero movies, with the actor first becoming famous for playing the titular hero in two Kick-Ass movies, as well as having a small role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Quicksilver.
Speaking to Esquire, Taylor-Johnson revealed the intense training he went through for Kraven the Hunter. According to the magazine, the actor knew the importance of his stomach and arms to the character, which made him train heavily for months, being 200 pounds at his top form to play Kraven. Taylor-Johnson also learned to run like a quadruped to be believable as Kraven, who has animal powers in the film.
Kraven's Ending Hint Sets Up His Inevitable Villain Turn Kraven the Hunter's first trailer teased that the movie paints the character in a more positive light than expected. While the footage revealed that Taylor-Johnson's version of Kraven will be as deadly as the character is known to be, thanks to the movie's R-rating, Kraven is not a villain in the film.
While Kraven the Hunter might not feature Tom Holland's Spider-Man, or any other actor who has played the Marvel hero in a movie, director J. C. Chandor revealed to Esquire that the movie's ending takes Kraven's comic book destiny into account, saying, “Sony probably doesn’t want me to lead with this, but the story is a tragedy. When the final credits roll on this film, if you’ve been paying attention, you won’t have the feeling that this is all going to end great.
Based on Chandor's words, it seems like Taylor-Johnson's Kraven the Hunter will end his debut as either the villain version of the character from the comics or one step closer to it. Following Kraven the Hunter's year-long delay, the movie will now premiere on August 30, 2024, which will put its release closer to Holland's Spider-Man 4, which is rumored for a 2025 release.
