“I think the seniors are the core of our team,” Vote said. “They have great leadership and push everyone else at practice. They have been playing together for a long time. They really have bought into the team mentality and we’re off to a good start.”The Lady Mustangs will host No. 2 Summer Creek in a district contest at 7 p.m. Wednesday for their first game back after winter break.
“We have put in so much work last year and during the preseason this year,” Stringer said. “The goal is to make the playoffs this year and that’s all that matters. It’s great to see our hard work finally paying off and for us to win some big games so far this season.” Vote credits the hot start with the work that has been done with no one watching.“These last two years this group of girls have trusted the process,” Vote said. “These girls have put in a lot of extra work.
Nichols is the point guard and looks the part of floor general as she moves the offense in every possession.
