Summary Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1 snagged the third spot at the box office, but it may not be enough. The first of four movies in an epic Western series by director, star, writer, and producer Kevin Costner, Chapter 1 serves as the introduction to Costner's depiction of the American West.
With a $100 million budget and three other movies on the way, Horizon may be on the path to a worrisome performance. Its opening day saw a total of only $4.1 million, according to a report by Variety, and it is expected to gross $12-13 million in its opening weekend. It is enough to secure third-place at a box office dominated by Inside Out 2 and A Quiet Place: Day One, but it will be difficult to reach profitability, let alone to set up three sequels.
