Wimbledon officials are 'hopeful' Kate Middleton will make an appearance and hand out trophies at this year's tournament.

Officials are saving the Princess of Wales a seat in the stands at this year's tennis competition, as she continues to undergo her cancer treatment.
"We're hopeful that the Princess of Wales will be able to present the trophies as the Club's patron, but her health and recovery is the priority," the England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club chair Debbie Jeans toldon Thursday, adding:"We don't know what we don't know. All we've said is that we'll work with her and give her as much flexibility as possible.
Middleton has largely stayed out of the spotlight since announcing her cancer diagnosis back in March, with the exception of her appearance atearlier this month. The occasion marked her first public engagement in six months, however, the Palace emphasized that her attendance wasn't an official return to royal duty.
But if her health allows it, she is eager to get back to business as usual—according to royal expert Hilary Fordwich."Her next goal is... to attend the Wimbledon Championships at the All England Law Tennis Club starting July 1," Fordwich toldthis week."As the most avid tennis fan and patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, she usually attends in the Royal Box to watch most major matches, later handing out trophies to winners.
