A South Philadelphia bar that has long welcomed Kansas City Chief fans will close for Kansas City's Super Bowl showdown against the hometown Eagles on Sunday.

Monday afternoon to close after realizing tickets for its watch party sold out too fast and the bar did not want to turn away any of its customers.

“It saddens me to say we will not be hosting the Super Bowl this year; we sold tickets very fast and had to turn our patrons away. So, we don’t want to do that, we can’t accommodate everyone so we will just close for the night. I’m sorry again. Go Chiefs!” the bar posted. Laura Sessa, the manager of the bar, said Big Charlie’s initially planned to host a small, indoor-only gathering for the Super Bowl this year, but was limited to a capacity of around 100 people. After the $25 tickets sold out quickly and the bar could not accommodate all of the interested patrons, they decided to cancel the plans altogether, according to“We feel horrible that we had to turn most of our regular customers away,” Sessa said. “We just didn’t think that was fair.

As a result, fans and bar patrons will have to branch off and find another place to see the big game.
