Kabosu, the Shiba Inu dog that inspired many memes and the logo of Elon Musk’s favorite cryptocurrency Dogecoin, passed away earlier this morning in Japan.The dog’s parent in a blog post wrote, “Kabosu passed away today, May 24th, at 7:50 AM. Last night, she ate her usual meal and drank plenty of water.”
Today Kabosu, our community's shared friend and inspiration, peacefully passed in the arms of her person. The impact this one dog has made across the world is immeasurable.The dog owner also said that Kabosu’s passing marked the end of an era for her many fans around the world due to her becoming an iconic figure in internet culture and cryptocurrency. The farewell party is being held to commemorate her life and the joy she brought to many.
“I believe Kabosu was the happiest dog in the world and I was the happiest owner in the world. I think Kabosu is still smiling and wagging her tail, staying close by my side. And I’m sure she will continue to do so forever.” The owner has also planned a larger farewell occasion during the cooler season at the Sakura Furusato Square, echoing the owner’s purpose to celebrate Kabosu’s life joyfully.“On Sunday, May 26th, we will hold a farewell gathering for Kabosu. It will be at Flower Kaori in Kotsu no Mori, Narita City, from 1 PM to 4 PM,” stated the blog post.
