Martin’s production this season would seem to indicate that he can be a valuable rotation piece for Rockets regardless of other changes.WASHINGTON, D.C. — A season that began amid questions about how K.J. Martin could get on the floor will end with the Rockets unable to get him off. How they will keep him, however, becomes the next question.
Martin has one season left on his initial contract, worth a bargain $1.9 million, but it comes at the team's option. The Rockets can allow him to play out his contract, become an unrestricted free agent after next season, though they would again retain the Bird rights to sign him beyond the limits of the salary cap.
