Fans of Jujutsu Kaisen are anxiously awaiting the eighth episode of the second season to see the Shibuya Incident arc get started in earnest. All the hype that manga readers have built up in the general community for this arc seems finally about to be realized. Only the release of the next episode will reveal if this is actually the case or if Studio MAPPA will uncharacteristically drop the ball.

What happened in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode #7? Season 2 episode #7 largely focused on resolving the fight between Mechamaru and Mahito. Both combatants went all out during the fight, with Mechamaru surprisingly damaging Mahito with attacks that affected his soul. After the curse tricked the sorcerer by faking his death, Mahito was ultimately able to get the upper hand, killing Mechamaru and enabling Geto and his allies to go ahead with their plans for the Shibuya district.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode #8 Will Truly Start the Shibuya Incident While episode #7 did a good job of building intrigue and unease about what exactly is going on in Shibuya, episode #8 will begin the arc in earnest, with Gojo likely confronting Geto and his cursed allies. Given the focus of the first part of the season on Gojo's past and on showing his dynamic with Geto, their confrontation is likely to be quite emotional, despite the former's general jokey persona.
The Shibuya Incident arc is widely regarded as one of the best arcs in Shonen manga for good reason. While anime only fans haven't been able to see what makes it great so far, hopefully the next episode will prove that it is indeed something special as long as studio MAPPA continues to improve on its source material. If it does, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2's eighth episode may go down as one of the series' best.
