He gained prominence as the bandleader for 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert' from 2015 to 2022 and co-composed the score for Pixar's animated film 'Soul.' Hailing from New Orleans, Batiste's musical journey began at the tender age of 8 when he joined the Batiste Brothers Band on drums, showcasing his innate talent. He honed his skills further at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York, where he mastered not only drums but also piano, keyboard, melodica, and guitar. Batiste's recent documentary 'American Symphony' garnered him another Grammy Award for best music film this month, along with a win for best song written for visual media for his poignant track 'It Never Went Away.' This accomplishment adds to his impressive seven Grammy Awards throughout his illustrious career.
