Joey Votto is ending his comeback bid has officially announced his retirement from Major League Baseball.
Longtime Cincinnati Reds first baseman and 2010 National League Most Valuable Player Joey Votto has officially announced his retirement from Major League Baseball. He made the announcement on his Instagram page on Wednesday.'That's it, I'm done,' Votto said in the video. 'I am officially retired from baseball.'Votto had tons of people to thank in his caption.
Thank you for all the support during my attempt.'Cincinnati, I've only played for you. I love you.'Votto was drafted in the second round of the 2002 MLB Draft by the Reds. He made his debut in 2007 and played an incredible 17 seasons in MLB, all with Cincinnati.Votto was a six-time All-Star, one-time Gold Glove award winner, and the 2010 NL MVP winner. He finishes his career with 356 home runs, 1,144 runs batted in, and a career slash line of .294/.409/.511.
