Jenna Bush Hager's 'Today' show journey takes a new turn as she welcomes the 'Jenna and Friends' era, featuring a rotating cast of guest hosts.
With Hoda Kotb 's departure from Today, including her 4th hour programming with co-host Jenna Bush Hager , the network is gearing up for a new era centered around Bush Hager. On Monday, January 13, Bush Hager, 43, will begin hosting Jenna and Friends — with a new theme song and intro— replacing Today with Hoda & Jenna in the 10:00 am timeslot.
Instead of picking an immediate replacement for the 60-year-old morning show mainstay to join Bush Hager, the show will try out different A-listers to find the best fit. On Monday, January 6, Bush Hager and Kotb revealed a few celebrities set to guest host alongside the broadcast journalist, including Empire alum Taraji P. Henson, former child star Keke Palmer, and Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria. Then, on Tuesday, January 7, it was announced actress Scarlett Johansson would co-host from January 21 to 24. Talia Parkinson-Jones, the executive producer of Jenna and Friends, spoke to Variety about finding the Texas native's new co-host. 'Hoda is the queen, you know, and she brings something so special. I don't think you can ever replicate that,' Parkinson-Jones admitted. 'We're in this new version of the show, and it's really Jenna's dating. We get a chance to meet different people, and we'll fall in love one day, but until then we're just having a really good time.' Bush Hager told the outlet she is 'involved' in the search process and wants to take the time to find the best person to join her rather than rush into anyone. 'I feel like our audience deserves the time to get to know a ton of different people, ton of different backgrounds,' she told Variety. 'We're hoping to pull up the chairs to all different types of people. I think there will be some surprises for sure. And so it's like when we know, I think we'll know'
