A trio suspected of carrying out a series of restaurant burglaries in Palo Alto is behind bars.
The suspects were subcontractors of a cleaning company that provided oversight cleaning service at all the restaurants they burglarized.The group first struck around 4 a.m. on Dec. 23 at Local Union 271 in Palo Alto on University Avenue, where they entered through a back door and made off with a safe containing $5,000 in cash, according to the Palo Alto Police Department.On Dec. 26, around 2 a.m., the suspects entered through the back door of Nola restaurant at 535 Ramona St.
The alleged perpetrators continued their crimes on Jan. 28, between 2 a.m. and 5 p.m., when they entered through a back door and swiped a safe containing $7,000 in cash.Investigators traced the crimes to 29-year-old Marcos David Umana Romero, 31-year-old Jose Roberto Rodriguez, and 27-year-old Armando Aguilar Sevillas, all residents of San Francisco.They were arrested and booked on three counts of commercial burglary and three counts of conspiracy.
