Hunting Valley Police Chief Mike Cannon stated that investigators from Detroit contacted his department on January 25th after the theft was reported. The local department entered the Escalade into the Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS) and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) as a stolen vehicle, listing the date of the theft as January 21st. Chief Cannon confirmed that Hunting Valley police continue to collaborate with the Detroit stolen car unit and are actively involved in the early stages of the investigation. In other local news, a University School student, 17, escaped injury after his 2003 GMC Terrain drove over a snow mound, leading to a chain reaction collision with three parked cars. Additionally, police responded to various incidents including a delivery truck getting stuck in a driveway, an officer euthanizing a deer on a farm property owned by Case Western Reserve University, a car needing to be towed after striking a deer, and a report of suspicious activity prompting a warning to a dog walker against walking pets after dark
