'You can finally put your money where your heart is.' Why there has never been a better reason to pick against Duke.

But a funny thing happened as soon as everyone began to like the team everyone is supposed to hate: Duke became overvalued. Sacrifices must be made. You might have to root against Zion Williamson. Photo: Jaylynn Nash/Zuma Press It’s not because of the floor slaps or the Cameron Crazies or Mike Krzyzewski or the fact that anyone you know who went to Duke loves nothing more than reminding you they went to Duke that should compel you to pick another team in your bracket. It’s just basic strategy.
It still makes sense to pick Duke to the Elite Eight, Final Four or even the last game of the season. But then you should give yourself a reason to pull for Williamson to score 50 points and dunk from the half-court line in a loss. That’s because it makes more sense to pick an undervalued team like Virginia, Kentucky or Michigan State as the national champion.
