Votes will continue to be tabulated in the days following the election, with elections department teams working every day this week to process ballots.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Anchorage Department of Elections has released the first batch of results from Tuesday’s municipal election.
These results will be the only ones released by the Department of Elections on Tuesday. Results will be released on theMayoral candidates must receive at least 45% of the vote to win. With Bronson and LaFrance taking most of the votes, it is likely the two will face off in a runoff election next month. Ballots for that election will be mailed to registered voters on April 30. The runoff election will be held May 14.
Ballots will also be counted on the Monday, Wednesday and Friday of the following week. Ballots sent by mail must have been postmarked no later than April 2 and received no later than April 16. Voter turnout for this election is expected to surpass that of the 2021 mayoral election. A spokesperson for the department said 51,234 ballots had been returned as of the morning of Election Day — a total of 75,441 ballots were processed in 2021.Winter makes a comeback across Alaska
