Five-time Iditarod champion Dallas Seavey reportedly shot a moose in self defense Monday, with the encounter leaving one dog on his team injured.FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Iditarod staff said Monday former Iditarod champion Dallas Seavey had a dog flown to Anchorage for medical evaluation after an encounter with a moose left the member of his team injured.The Iditarod release says race officials were alerted to the incident at 1:43 a.m. Monday morning.

Veterinarians reportedly are still assessing the dog’s condition, and race officials are attempting to salvage the moose meat.
